Tile calculator

Tiles and boxes for a rectangular area, with a waste percentage you adjust for the laying pattern and number of cuts.

The waste figure is an adjustable default: diagonal patterns and rooms with many corners need more. Buy from the same shade code and calibre. Installation guide

Grout calculator

Grout in kilograms from tile size, joint width and joint depth.

Formula: ((A+B)÷(A×B))×C×D×density, as in the MAPEI Ultracolor Plus technical data sheet, which uses 1.6 for that product. The figure varies by product; take it from your grout's data sheet. Grout guide

Tile adhesive calculator

Consumption depends on the trowel notch size and substrate flatness; enter the rate from the product data sheet.

5 kg/m² is only an example; the correct figure is in the product data sheet for your trowel size. Large tiles and back-buttering increase consumption. Adhesive guide

Paint calculator

Wall paint quantity based on the coverage printed on the can.

Actual coverage depends on the paint, surface porosity and previous colour; use the manufacturer's figure.

Drain slope calculator

Minimum fall for a horizontal drain pipe by diameter and length.

Values from the International Plumbing Code, section 704.1 (¼, ⅛ and 1/16 inch per foot). In Saudi Arabia the binding reference is SBC 701. Drainage guide

Insulation thickness calculator

Thickness of an insulation material needed to reach a target thermal resistance R.

Formula: thickness = R × λ. λ values are from tested products in a peer-reviewed study; use the declared λ of your product. The full wall U-value is calculated by the designer under SBC 602. Insulation guide

Note: this calculator gives an indicative estimate, and some constants in its formula are still being checked against an original engineering reference. Do not rely on it alone for design or construction.

Appliance electricity calculator

An appliance's use in kWh from its power and running hours, with cost if you enter the kWh price from your bill.

Formula: watts × hours ÷ 1000 = kWh. An AC's actual draw varies with temperature, so the result is approximate. This calculator is for energy use only, not for sizing cables or breakers. The price depends on tariff band and customer type; take it from your bill. VAT and fees are included only if the price you enter includes them. AC guide

Water use calculator

Water used by a shower or tap from its flow rate, minutes per use, uses per day and number of people.

The default 7.6 L/min is the upper limit of grade A for shower heads in the Saudi Technical Regulation for Water Consumption Saving Tools; your product's rate is on its water-saving label. Basins and toilets guide

Concrete volume calculator

Volume of a rectangular slab or footing in cubic metres, with an adjustable allowance.

Formula: length × width × thickness. The allowance is an adjustable default. The final quantity and class are set by the engineer from the drawings. Ready-mix guide

Block count calculator

Number of blocks for a wall from its area, the block size and the mortar joint.

Formula: wall area ÷ ((block length + joint) × (block height + joint)). Block sizes vary between plants; get them from the supplier. Blocks guide

Rebar weight calculator

Rebar weight and the number of stock bars to buy, from the diameter, count and length shown in the bar schedule your engineer gives you.

Formula: weight per metre = bar cross-section area × steel density (7850 kg/m³), roughly diameter² ÷ 162. Stock bars = pieces ÷ whole pieces one stock bar yields, rounded up, then the allowance is added. It assumes equal-length pieces without laps and does not replace the bar bending schedule. Diameters, lengths and laps are set by the engineer on the drawings. Rebar guide

Note: this calculator gives an indicative estimate, and some constants in its formula are still being checked against an original engineering reference. Do not rely on it alone for design or construction.

Enter a start date and each stage's duration in weeks from your contract or engineering office, and see the dates for every stage and the expected finish.

The durations shown are examples to try the tool, not reference durations; enter your contract's. Stages follow Your building journey; handover steps are in New building handover.
